Without dedicated volunteers, our Religious Education program cannot exist. We need volunteers in the form of:
Catechists – for Sunday classes and sacramental preparation
Aides
Substitute catechists and aides
The goal of these volunteers is to teach the children of the parish in the ways of our Faith. These volunteers should be willing to plan and teach, or assist in planning and teaching, lessons to help the children’s faith becoming living conscious and alive. They should be able to witness to the Gospel message, the community of the Church and the love of Christ to the children.
Volunteers are needed for 2 parts of our program.
Weekly volunteers are needed to teach and to be aides in our kindergarten through 8th grade general religious education classes. These classes begin with Mass attendance at 9am. Students will be dismissed at the end of Mass to class, and class will conclude at 11:30am. These classes will be held once a week from September through May with a few weekends off for holidays. There are a few Wednesday night commitments to help with Penance services and special masses.
Monthly volunteers are needed to assist in our sacramental preparation programs. Monthly meetings will be held for our 2nd, 7th, and 8th grade classes separate from their general religious education classes. These classes will focus on preparing the students for either the sacraments of holy Communion or Confirmation. For more information about these schedules, please contact the Religious Education office (info listed below)
If you are not able to make a full commitment, you can be added to the list of substitutes that we rely on when needed.
**All volunteers are required to complete SAFE Environment training, as provided through the parish office, and allow for a State background check to be done, prior to volunteering.**
If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form and return it to the Religious Education office.
Please contact Lisa Johnson in the Religious Education Office with any questions or to apply.
